SOMEWHERE IN THE SEWER SYSTEM - NIGHT
Remy: I waited for a sound, a voice, a sign, something.
소리를 기다렸습니다, 목소리를, 신호를, 뭐라도.
Remy flips a crinkled page, to a appetizing photo of pastry.
His stomach GROWLS. He looks away, turning to a drawing of
GUSTEAU on the opposite page.
The ILLUSTRATION comes to life; speaking to Remy.
Gusteau: If you are hungry, go up and look around, Remy.
Why do you wait and mope?
배 고프면 가서 둘러봐, 레미.
왜 침울하게 기다리는 거야?
*Don't just sit there moping - cheer up! 그냥 거기 침울하게 앉아 있지 말고 기운 내!
Remy: Well, I've just lost my family,
all my friends, probably forever.
가족을 잃었어요, 친구들도요,
아마도 영원히.
Gusteau: How do you know? 어떻게 알아?
Remy: Well, I... You are an illustration.
Why am I talking to you?
그게…당신은 책 속 그림이잖아요.
왜 당신이랑 얘기해야 하죠?
Gusteau: Well, you just lost your family, all your friends.
You are lonely.
가족을 잃었으니까, 친구도 잃고,
그래서 외로우니까.
Remy: Yeah. Well, you're dead. 네. 당신은 죽었잖아요.
Gusteau: Ah, but that is no match for wishful thinking.
If you focus on what you've left behind,
you'll never be able to see what lies ahead.
Now go up and look around.
간절히 바라면 죽음도 희망은 꺾지 못해.
과거에 집착하면 미래를 볼 순 없어.
올라 가서 둘러 봐.
*I am no match for you. 나는 너와 상대가 되지 않는다.
*wishful thinking 희망적 기대; 원하면 실제로 희망한 대로의 일이 일어난다는 것을 믿는

Gusteau: What are you doing? 무슨 짓이야?
Remy: I'm hungry. I don't know where I am,
and I don't know when I'II find food again.
배 고파요. 여기가 어딘지도 모르고,
먹을 걸 언제 다시 찾을 줄도 몰라요.
Gusteau: Remy, you are better than that.
You are a cook. A cook makes.
A thief takes. You are not a thief.
레미, 그것 밖에 안 되니? 넌 요리사야.
요리사는 만들고, 도둑은 훔치지.
넌 도둑이 아냐.
Remy: But I am hungry. 하지만 배 고픈 걸요.
Gusteau: Food will come, Remy.
Food always comes to those who love to cook.
음식은 생기기 마련이야.
요리하기 좋아하는 사람에겐 늘 음식이 생기지.
A LOVERS QUARREL. Remy watches from above, through a crack in
the ceiling; SHE shakily waves a pistol at a defiant HE.
Woman: You think I am playing?
내가 장난하는 것으로 보여?
Man: You don't have the guts. 쏠 배짱도 없으면서.
*He doesn't have the guts to do it. 그에게는 그것을 할 배짱이 없다.
OUTSIDE THE BUILDING - ROOFTOPS
Remy:
Wow. It's beautiful.
파리? 여태껏 내가 파리 밑에 있었던 거야? 와. 아름답다.
Gusteau: The most beautiful. 가장 아름다운 곳이지.
Remy: Gusteau's? Your restaurant?
You've led me to your restaurant.
구스토 식당? 당신 식당이에요?
당신이 날 여기로 인도했군요.
Gusteau: It seems as though I have. Yes.
There it is! I have led you to it!
그런 것 같기도 하고. 그래, 그거야!
내가 인도했어.
*It sounds as if[as though, like ((구어))] they don't know what to do. 그들이 어찌할 바를 모르는 것 같다.
*there it is 글쎄 그거야; 사실은 사실이다; 실정은 그렇다; 그럴 수밖에 없다
Remy: I got to see this. 둘러 봐야겠어요.
