William      Classic. Profit from major sales push, minus 347.

*A term used to note that something was just pure genuine and worth remembering. Something that will never slip your mind due to its pure humor.

Martin       Shall I, uh, go get you a cappuccino? You know, ease the pain a bit.

William      Yeah, yeah, better make it a half. All I can afford.

Martin       I get your logic. Demi-capu coming right up.

*=half, lesser

William      Um, can I help you at all?

Anna         No, thanks. I’ll just…look around.

William      Fine. .

William      That book’s really not great, just in case, you know, browsing turned to buying,

uh, you’d be wasting your money.      But if it’s Turkey you are interested in…um,

this one, on the other hand…is very good. I think the man who wrote it has actually

been to Turkey, which helps. Uh, there’s also a very amusing incident with a kebab,

um, which is one of many amusing incidents…

* just in case 만일의 경우에 대비하여; ~하면 안 되므로/I kept going back to his room, just in case he was there.

*browse in the pages of a book 책을 여기저기 아무데나 읽다/ browse ones way 마음 내키는 대로 읽어 나가다

Anna        Thanks. I’ll think about it.

William      Or in the bigger hardback variety. This is, um, sorry, can you just give me a second?

*=hardcover/ Hardbacks are more expensive, but they last longer.

William      Excuse me.

Thief        Yes? ?

William      Bad news.

Thief        What?

William      Uh, we’ve got a security camera in this bit of the shop.

Thief        So?

William      So, I saw you put that book down your trousers.

Thief        What book?

William      The one down your trousers.

Thief        I don’t have a book down my trousers.

William      Right, I tell you what, um. I’ll call the police, and, um, what can I say,

if I’m wrong about the whole book-down-the-trousers scenario, I really apologize.

*I will tell you what / tell you what

/ I'll tell you what. I'll give you a five percent discount if you buy a whole box.

Thief        Okay, what if I did have a book down my trousers?

William      Well, ideally, when I went back to the desk, you’d remove the Cadogan guide to Bali from your trousers,

and uh either wipe it and put it back, or buy it. I’ll see you in a sec. Sorry about that…

Anna        No, it’s fine. I was gonna steal one but now I’ve changed my mind.

Oh, Signed by the author, I see.

William      Um, yeah, we couldn’t stop him. If you can find an unsigned one,

               it’s worth an absolute fortune.

*That ring is worth (=must have cost) a fortune.

Thief        Excuse me.

Anna        Yes. .

Thief        Can I have your autograph?

Anna        Uh, sure.

William      Here!

Anna        What’s your name?

Thief        Rufus.

Thief        What does it say?

Anna        That’s my signature, and above, it says ‘Dear Rufus, you belong in jail.’

Thief        Good one. Do you want my phone number?

Anna        Tempting. But…no. Thank you.

Anna        I will take this one.

William      Oh , right, right , so uh, well, on second thoughts, um, maybe it’s not that bad after all.

Actually, it’s a sort of classics really. None of those childish kebab stories you find in so many books these days.

And, um, I tell you what, I’ll throw in one of these for free. Useful for, uh, lighting fires, wrapping fish, that sort of

                things.

Anna        Thanks.

William      Pleasure.
