이력서 줘봐요. Get me her resume.

 

양하영: 준비 됐습니다. Yes, it’s ready.

 

차지헌: 낙하산이군. Parachute appointment, huh?

*낙하산 인사 - high-handed personnel administration/ parachute appointment

/It goes against his promise to never make parachute appointments.

그것은 낙하산 인사정책을 하지 않겠다던 그의 약속과 반대되는 것이다.

 

노은설: 어, 아닌데. No, it’s not.

 

차무원: 왔구나, 드디어. You’re finally here.

오랜만이다 얼굴 보는 거. It’s been a while since I saw your face.

 

차지헌: 얘 낙하산이야? Is this a case of parachute appointment?

 

차무원: 차회장님 지시로 내가 직접 뽑았어.

I picked her myself in accordance with the president’s directions.  

물론 낙하산도 아니고.

And of course it’s not a parachute appointment.

 

차지헌: 요즘은 뉴스도 안 챙겨주나 봐요.

I guess you don’t even offer him news updates anymore.

석박사가 백 만 명 시대야.

In this generation, there are plenty of people with Master's and PhD’s.

그런데 이 스펙으로 내 비서로 뽑았다?   

And with this academic background,

she was chosen as the Department Head’s secretary?

그게 말이 돼? Does it make any sense?

안 돼지. Of course not.

고로 낙하산 아니면 스파이야.

So this is the case and she’s a spy.

 

차무원: 내가 왜 스파이를 붙여?  Why would I need a spy?

 

차지헌: 너 날 경계하면서 내 일거수 일투족을 감시하잖아.

You are always competing with me,

and you investigate every little action of mine.

*일거수일투족 one’s every action

/Now the media is closely watching every move he makes,

언론은 그의 일거수 일투족을 긴밀히 지켜보고 있다.

그러니 치워 니 스파이 낙하산.

So get rid of your spy.

앞으로 내 비서는 내가 직접 뽑는다.

I’m going to pick my own secretary from now on.

 

차무원: 도대체 내가 널 왜 감시 한다는 건데?

Why would you think that I would spy on you?

뭘 얻으려고? To get what?

어디서 노는 거? Where you play?

어디서 밥 먹는 거? Where you eat?

 

차지헌: 그래서 내가 놀고 먹기만 하는 거야, 너 캐낼 거 없을라고.

That’s why I only play around and eat.

So that you wouldn’t spy out anything.

 

 

A few days later.

 

차지헌: 기어이 해보겠다 이거지?

So you’re going to do this no matter what?

노은설씨 뽑아준 차무원을 위해서?

For that Cha Moo Won who picked you?

 

노은설: 그게 아니라…That’s not so…

 

차지헌: 좋아 해보자고.  Fine, give it your best shot.

 

노은설: 네? Pardon?

 

차지헌: 일. 해보자고. Working. Give it a try.

 

노은설: 감사합니다. 정말 감사합니다.

Thank you. Thank you very much.

 

차지헌: 한번 더 해. Do it one more time.

 

노은설: 네? Pardon?

 

차지헌: 두 번 불길하잖아. Twice is unlucky.

 

노은설: 앞으로, 정말 정말 열심히 하겠습니다.

From now on, I will very very diligently do it.

 

차지헌: 좋아, 지금부터는 주의사항이야, 잘 들어.

Fine, now I’ll tell you some matters that require attention,

listen carefully.

반복 안 해. 반복하는 거 제일 싫어.

Because I don’t want to repeat myself. I hate repeating.

말대답하지마. 그것도 세상에서 제일 싫어.

Don’t talk back. I hate talking back too.
