In the morning, Ah jung heads to Ki-joon’s hotel to repay the hospital bill she owes him.
Ki Joon is on his date in the hotel lobby. Ah jung is at a nearby table to wait it out.
공 아정: 아, 화장실 가고 싶어. 참아야 해.
I want to go to the restroom. No. I have to hold in pee.
*오줌을 참다 retain[hold] one´s urine
어, 잠시… 화장실이 어디에요?
Sorry to trouble you, but where’s the restroom?
직원: 나가셔서 복도 끝에 있습니다.
Go down to the end of the corridor.
공 아정: 아니지. 그새 가버리면 어떡해?
I can’t. What if he leaves while I’m away?
참자, 지금까지 잘 참았잖아.
Just endure it. I’ve endured it well so far.
아, 그냥 확 주고 나가버릴까?
I might as well give the money straight to him and leave.
*As long as I am about it[While I´m at it] I might as well take English.
이왕이면 영어를 배우겠다.
여자랑 있는데 좀 그런가?
With a girl there, it will be inappropriate.
무슨 얘기를 저렇게 오래 하는 거야?
What are they talking about for so long?
[She leans her chair back to see if she can figure out what’s keeping him so long,
but loses her balance. She falls backwards, landing on the ground,
tomato juice surrounding her like a pool of blood.]
어, 아악! Ah!
직원: 손님 괜찮으세요?
There’s nothing wrong with you, right?
공 아정: 어떡해? 눈을 뜰 수가 없어!
[Thinks to herself]
What do I do? No way, I’m not opening my eyes!
직원: 눈 좀 떠보세요! 괜찮으세요?
Open your eyes! Are you alright?
[Ki-joon notices her.]
현 기준: 실례하겠습니다. Excuse me.
[He lifts her up off the ground.]
공 아정: 이 사람 왜 이래?
[Thinks to herself] What’s this person doing?
[Someone recognizes Ah-jung.]
손님: 공 아정! 저기요! 무슨 일이에요? 다쳤어요?
Gong Ah Jung! Excuse me! What happened?
Is she injured?
직원: 아뇨, 손님께서 토마토 주스를 쏟으셨어요.
No. That guest spilled tomato juice on herself.
손님: 아니, 근데 왜 이러고 나와?
Then why did they come out like this?
[He carries her through the lobby and then up to one of the rooms.]
공 아정: 어딜 가는 거야?
[Thinks to herself] Where are we going?
현 기준: 의사 불러요. Call a doctor.
[He throws her down and she races for the bathroom.]
공 아정: 잠시만. Hold a second.
아, 뭐라 그러지? What should I say?
빈혈? 간질발작?
Anemia? Seizures?
[He knocks on the door impatiently.]
현 기준: 그만하고 나오죠.
Stop causing trouble, come out.
공 아정: 나가요. I’m coming.
오랜 앉아 있었더니 다리가 저려서요.
My legs fell asleep from sitting too long.
*The seats were so uncomfortable my leg began going to sleep.
좌석이 불편해서 다리가 저려왔어요.
현 기준: 뇌진탕일 수도 있으니까, 병원 갑시다.
You might have a concussion. Let’s go to the hospital.
*a concussion of the brain 뇌진탕
엑스레이 찍어 보게.
Get an X-ray to see what’s wrong.
공 아정: 괜찮아요. 진짜 말짱해요.
It’s all right. There’s really nothing wrong.
제 머리가 워낙 단단해서. 아무 이상 없어요.
My head is hard as a rock. I’m not even slightly injured.
*The chicken was still rock-hard from the freezer.
닭고기가 냉동실에서 나와 아직 바위처럼 단단하게 얼어 있었다.
현 기준: 그래도 확실하게 하죠.
It’s still better to have a thorough checkup.
나중에 딴 소리하면 곤란하니까.
It’ll be harder to resolve if you change your mind later.
공 아정: 딴 소리요? Change my mind?
아, 여기서 다쳤으니까 돈 내놔라?
You think I’d ask you for money because I got hurt here?
뭘로 보고, 내가 무슨 협박범으로 보이세요?
What do you see me as? Do I look like an extortionist?
*extortionist; a person who practices the crime of extortion or the obtaining of money by threat of violence. Also extortioner.
현 기준: 아닙니까? 멀쩡한데 기절한 척 영업방해나 하고.
No? Obviously, there’s nothing wrong but you pretend you fall in a faint
only to cause trouble.
공 아정: 쪽 팔려서 그랬어요, 됐어요?
Because it’s too embarrassing, that’s why. Okay?
