Shifu: Panda! Panda! Wake up! Hmm. He's quit.
팬더! 팬더! 일어나! 음. 그만 뒀군.
Viper: What do we do now, master, with the panda gone?
Who will be the Dragon Warrior?
우린 이제 뭘 합니까, 사부님, 팬더도 가 버렸는데?
누가 용의 전사가 되는 거죠?
Shifu: All we can do is resume our training and trust that in time,
the true Dragon Warrior will be revealed.
우리가 할 수 있는 건 수련을 재개하고,
때가 되면 진정한 용의 전사가 밝혀질 것을 믿는 거다.
[Shifu enters the training hall, only to find himself face-to-face with Po's butt.
Shifu and the Five are taken aback.]

Po: No, really, I appreciate... 아뇨, 정말, 고마워서…
Crane: Ever. 됐어.
Shifu: You actually thought you could learn to do a full split in one night?
It takes years to develop one's flexibility! And years longer to apply it in combat!
Put that down! The only souvenirs we collect here are bloody knuckles
and broken bones.

*He was born poor. (= He was born of[in] a poor family.)
Viper: I'm sorry, brother. I thought you said you were ready.
미안해, 친구. 준비 됐다고 한 줄 알았어.
Po: That was awesome! Let's go again!
대단해요! 다시 합시다!
Shifu: I've been taking it easy on you, panda.
But no more. Your next opponent will be me.
지금까진 살살했지만, 팬더, 더 이상은 아니다. 다음 상대는 나다.
*Take it easy on the liquor[food]. 웬만큼 마셔라[먹어라]
/ Take it easy on me as I'm just trying to understand some basic stuff.
Po: All right! Yeah, let's go! 네, 좋아요, 해보자 고요!
Shifu: Step forth. The true path to victory is to find your opponent's weakness...
and make him suffer for it.
한 발 앞으로. 승리로 가는 진정한 길은 상대의 약점을 찾아내
그걸로 상대를 괴롭히는 거다.

상대의 힘을 역이용하는 거지…결국 상대가 무너지고…포기할 때까지.
Po: A real warrior never quits. Don't worry, Master. I will never quit!
진정한 용사는 포기를 모르죠. 걱정 마세요, 사부님. 전 절대 포기 안 해요!
Tigress: If he's smart, he won't come back up those steps.
똑똑한 친구라면, 다시는 저 계단을 올라오지 않겠지.
l 가정법과 직설법 차이 설명 좀 하고 넘어 갈까요.
가령 돈 빌려 달라는 친구한테 ‘돈 있으면 빌려 주지.’ 라고 말 하려면 영어로 어떻게 표현 하면 좋을까요? 물론 통장 잔고도 없고 호주머니에 일전 없어서 못 빌려주니 짜증내듯 하는 말이죠.
‘If I have some money, I will lend you.’ 라고 하면 될까요? 가능 할 것 같은데…아니죠! 사실 위 문장은 앞서 말한 뉘앙스는 없이 단순히 ‘돈 있으면 빌려줄게.’ 라는 의미가 되죠. 또한 이 경우 돈을 가지고 있을 가능성도 배제 할 수 없는 느낌입니다. If I had some money, I would lend you. 라고 해야 자기가 돈이 없으니 못 빌려주겠다는 의미가 전달됩니다. 이런 식으로 가정법에는 화자의 기분, 태도, 판단(speaker’s attitude of mind)이 묻어나게 됩니다.
하나 더 볼까요.
a. If he loves me, I’ll marry him.
b. If he loved me, I’d marry him.
두 문장의 차이를 느끼실 수 있겠죠. a는 그가 날 사랑하고 있을 가능성을 배제하지 않는 반면 b는 그가 날 사랑하지 않는다는 사실을 전제로 하는 말이죠.
즉 현재 사실에 근거해서 동사의 과거형을 사용함으로써 현재 사실과 반대되는 상황을 가정하는 겁니다.
Monkey: But he will. 하지만 올 걸.
Viper: He's not going to quit, is he? 포기 안 하겠지?
Mantis: He's not going to quit bouncing, I'll tell you that.
저렇게 튕기는 건 포기 안 할 거야. 말이 나서 하는 말이지만 말야.
*I(’ll) tell you what. 저, 말이지; 좋은 생각이 있다; 실은 이렇다.
/I can tell you what. 이봐, 좋은 일이 있어(내 말 들 어봐).
/I’m telling you. 《구어》《보통 문미에 놓여》 정말로, 정말이야.
