[여인의 향기] 넌 나랑 있는 게 즐겁니?

여인의 향기를 시청하면서 느끼는 게, 드라마가 시청자들에게 감동을 주는 건
가끔 플롯plot, 즉  이야기 자체의 독창성이라기보다 그 플롯의 전개에 있어서의
독창성과 세심함 같은 게 아닐 까 합니다. 드라마 속 많은 사소한 부분들에
시청자들이 공감할 때 그 드라마가 특별하고 보기에 즐겁다는 거죠.
드라마를 죽이고 살리는 게 꼭 이야기의 독창성이 아니라 이야기를 풀어 가는
스토리텔링storytelling이 될 수 있다는 건 이미 영화 타이타닉 Titanic이 증명했지요.
뻔히 아는 얘기지만 수많은 사람들이 공감하고 영화관을 찾게 만들었으니까요.  
작가와 PD도 그렇지만 여인의 향기 주인공들이 훌륭한 스토리텔러storyteller가 돼주신 점,
진심 찬사를 보냅니다.

Ji-wook tells Yeon-jae to take his money and leave him alone forever.

 

이연재: 그 돈 주는 게 무슨 뜻인 줄 알아?

If I pay the money, do you know, what that means?

내가 반지 훔쳤다고 인정하는 거야.

It means, I admit that I stole the ring.

그리고 돈 주면 그게 해결 되는 거라고?

Then…do you think by giving me money, it’s all solved?

그럼 니가 준 돈은 내가 안 갚아도 돼?

Then what about the money that you’ve given me?

Don’t I need to pay you back?

그거 안 갚아도 되는 거냐고?

Don’t I need to pay it back?

 

강지욱: 갚지마 그럼. Just don’t pay it back then.

그 돈 갚는다 어쩐다 그러면서 내 눈앞에서 알짱거리지마.

Don’t use the money as an excuse to keep bothering me.

나도 너 따위 여자랑 자꾸 이런 일로 엮이는 거 더 이상 원하지 않으니까.

I don’t wish to have any kind of contact with a woman like you.

돈 받고…가라.

Take the money…and leave.

그리고 다시 내 눈앞에 나타나지마.

And…don’t appear in front of me again.

너 땜에 미칠 것 같으니까.

Because of you…I’m going crazy.

 

이연재: 무슨 뜻이에요? What do you mean?

 

강지욱: 무슨 뜻 일 걸 같애? What do you think it means?

가. Leave.

 

이연재: 저기요. Wait.

얼른 들어가서 전화해 주세요.

When you go inside, please quickly make a phone call.

3억 넣지 말라고요.

And cancel the 300million Won transfer.

가볼게요. I’ll be leaving now

 

 

Ji-wook soon has another visitor:

Sae-kyung storms inside and slaps him for ditching her at the opera.

 

임세경: 뭐 하는 짓이야?  What are you doing?

그 공연 당신이 보자고 한 거야.

You were the one who said you wanted to see that performance.

웃어? Are you laughing?

강지욱씨 그러다 나한테 까이는 수가 있어.

Kang Ji Wook, I might get rid of you if you aren’t careful.

: make yourself free of sb/sth that is annoying you or that you do not want; throw sth away

 

강지욱: 차라리 그러지 그래.

I was hoping you would do that.

 

임세경: 뭐? What?

 

 

강지욱: 넌 나랑 있는 게 즐겁니?

 Are you happy being together with me?

 

임세경: 즐거운 게 뭔데? What is happiness?

 둘이 손 붙잡고 놀이공원이라도 갈까?

 Is it two people holding hands at an amusement park?

 그게 즐겁겠어? Is that happiness?  

 그럼 그렇게 하든가. Then we should do it.

 

 

With her accounts frozen,

she doesn’t even have enough cash to take a cab all the way home,

and exits the taxi.

이연재: 아저씨 저기 9천 원어치만 가주시겠어요?

 Hey! Please stop when the meter reaches 9000 Won.

 아니 8천 원어치만요.

 No, actually stop at 8000 Won.

 

 

Hye-won meets Yeon-jae.

Hye-won lends her one million Won.

 

유헤원: 그래서, 음료수 마실 돈도 없는 거야?

 So, you don’t even have enough money to pay for a drink?

 

이연재: 응. Nope.

 

유헤원: 여기, 백 만원 밖에 못 줘.

Here, I can only give you one million Won.

내 사정 알잖아. You know my situation.

 

이연재: 고마워 혜원아. Thank you, Hye Won.

 

유헤원: 너 괜찮니? Are you doing okay?

 

이연재: 음…Mmm…

 

유헤원: 아까 회의하는데 니 이름이 나왔거든.

Your name was mentioned in the meeting earlier.

근데 본부장이 왜 이연재씨 얘길 꺼내냐고 엄청 화내더라.

But Dept. Head said why mention you. He was furious.

그리고 직원들한테 여직원들 성희롱 하지 마세요, 그러는 거 있지.  

And also, to the staff he said, don’t harass female staff members.

애들이 멋있다고 난리 났었잖아.

They were completely fascinated.  

 

이연재: 아 맞다, 너 소개팅 어떻게 됐어?

Ah, right, how was your blind date going?

 

유헤원: 그냥 그랬지 뭐. As usual.
